Q: What makes FittHer online coaching unique / different?
My coaching approach is informed by evidence based studies / information, many years of accumulated experience coaching women and my personal experiences of reinventing my own fitness, health and wellbeing.
Essentially I help women feel fitter, healthier and happier by understanding the challenges they face on a daily basis when it comes to reducing and then maintaining body fat. Ultimately I provide women with an evidence based, sustainable and realistic approach to body fat reduction and maintenance, void of none sustainable industry nonsense.
As well as having an unrivalled passion for helping women to live healthier and happier lives, I want to make the health and fitness industry a better place. I am incredibly passionate about dispelling the none evidence based pseudoscientific nonsense in the industry because the misinformation is making it harder for women to know what to do to help themselves long term - and the way I see it is that it’s simply not fair.
Throughout my career I have seen my clients go through the same struggles you are likely currently experiencing with your own health and fitness journey and it genuinely upsets me - because I know firsthand how it feels. Unlike the majority of the industry I care about your health and wellbeing and I want to give you through my work realistic, proven evidence based methods and support for you to achieve your health, fitness and wellbeing goals in a long term sustainable manner.
Q: How long have you been a trainer / coach for and how much experience do you have?
I have spent the last 15 years working in the health and fitness industry, as a gym instructor, personal trainer, health consultant and online coach. I have worked with 100's of clients over the years and accumalated 10000's hours of coaching / training experiance. I did a degree in sports physiology and since leaving university I have always worked in the health and fitness industry.
Q : How effective is online coaching really?
Online coaching is extremely effective especially when body composition changes (losing body fat) are the goal because online coaching focuses more on habit and behavioural change which are fundamental in ensuring long term sustainable results. Where as face to face personal training focuses more on the technical side of performing exercises with a little motivation and encouragement thrown in the mix.
That being said, as with face to face personal training, online coaching / training is only effective if you follow the programme as it is designed. As the saying goes and like all things in life... you will get out what you put in.
Online coaching gives you access to my expertise, knowledge and experience at any time. It’s great for providing you with extra motivation, accountability, it teaches you to take control and track your own progress. It’s also much more cost effective than face to face personal training and the workouts can be fitted into your schedule rather than your trainer’s.
Q: I’m a beginner regarding fitness and nutrition. I am worried this program will be too hard for me?
On the contrary my coaching caters for all experience levels. Also your level of training, and unique fitness goals are the main priority when it comes to exercise selection and the other variables that make an effective program. My approach is a progressive style of training, so the exercise plan I provide for you will always be appropriate to your level of fitness and training experiance.
If you are unfamiliar with the gym and specific exercises, I make your training program easy to follow by providing a video and instructional database of every exercise on your program. Again, my goal is to make this process as simple as possible to follow to ensure your success.
Q: I have a really busy job and home life. I am worried I won’t have time to fit workouts into my weekly routine?
On the contrary my coaching caters for all schedules. Your training program is designed with your schedule and availability in mind. We will find ways of fitting your training program into your schedule and we will work together to ensure training becomes part of your lifestyle.
Q: I have just turned 50. I am worried I will too old for this program?
On the contrary my coaching caters for all ages. Also there is a plethora of research showing that exercise / training is incredibly beneficial for women as they age to ensure bones and joints stay strong and healthy. I have some clients who I coach in their late 60’s so you defiantly shouldn't worry about your age.
As the saying goes… age is just a number!
Q : Do I have to be a member of a gym to do Online Personal Training?
No. Being a member of a gym isn’t necessary. Alot of my online and in person clients train from home. It's largely down to personal preference. You will be able to do most of the exercises at home if you have some training equipment. If not, I can adapt your programme and the exercises within it so you’re able to do it with whatever equipment you have.
You may need to invest some money in some additional equipment if you prefer to train at home and don’t currently have any or minimal training equipment. Purchasing training equipment doesn't have to be expensive, we can discuss this together during the set up phase and I will ensure the equipment you purchase fits into your budget.
Q: What happens if I want to quit or need to take a break from coaching / training for a while because my financial circumstances change?
Although I’m confident you’ll love your coaching program, I understand that anyone’s financial circumstances can change. Initially there is a 6 month coaching contract then you go onto a rolling monthly contract. You may cancel your coaching contract at any time after the initial 6 month period is up. I just require 1 months cancellation notice. If you need to take a break from training for more than 30 days, you are very welcome too and you just need to let me know. But I cannot hold a space for a client longer than 30 days, and your ability to come back is based on a first come first served basis.
Q : Where are you based and can I train with you in person?
I’m currently based in London, UK. Unfortunately I am not currently taking on any face to face Personal Training clients because my diary is full and likely to stay that way for a while.
Q: How often can I contact you if I have questions?
I am available to all of my clients for daily communication through email and the in app messaging service. Of course there may be times in which I cannot answer immediately, however all questions are answered within 24 hours during business days.
Q : Why is the program only for women?
After working with 100's of clients over the years its become very obvious to me that although male and female physiologies are similar in someways - they are very different in others - especially when it comes to improving body composition.
While fat loss is fundamentally about creating a negative energy balance - this is easier said than done, especially when it comes to losing body fat as a woman. Female fat loss can be a confusing and oftentimes a very misunderstood topic. Most women (and coaches) have a lack of understanding and awareness when it comes to the underlying principles of body fat reduction and maintenance when taking female physiology into account.
There are some fundamental differences between female and male physiologies when it comes to fat loss. Like in the case of flying a helicopter and flying an aeroplane - they are similar in some ways yet completely different in others. Same can be said in coaching women and men for body composition changes. Without question fat loss is harder for females. Female specific physiologies, such as the menstrual cycle, the menopause and conditions such as PCOS make fat loss harder for women, it doesn’t mean that it’s impossible, or that you can’t lose body fat, or that you should give up all hope - it just means you need to learn how to work with your body rather than against it. So with all this in mind I have purposely focused my learnings and my teachings over the years specifically with the female physiology in mind.
